The expansion of charter schools goes right along with Desantis trying to get rid of property taxes. This will allow the rich to take over public schools, fire departments, and law enforcement to continue to profit off the backs of the working folks.

Hey Kids - if you graduate from one of these schools - I won’t hire you. I’m serious. The standards I’ve seen from these private schools are so low - I don’t have the resources to teach and train you

Do Charter schools offer the state testing that public schools use to assess progress? Are Private schools mandated to offer the state testing? How do you compare an 8th grade math student in Public versus Charter/Private?

Good question. After talking to people who have kids in these schools and reading available information - it varies widely! There could be some that have strict standards but others do not. In fact, recently a licensed nurse provider said they only did 4 "sticks" in school and that was it. A "stick" is learning how to insert a needle. If that's all they did in school - I would call that standard so low as to be so meaningless that what's the point of paying for that class???

Thanks for reporting on this, Im very concerned that the areas where the truly low performing schools will still be underserved!

Will head flunkie Manny Diaz Jr. be chairing the meeting in Ft. Walton?

He is no longer the head flunkie. Now they have a fascist enforcer Ed Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas. I thought it couldn’t get worse than Manny Diaz but this guy makes Diaz look milquetoast.

My bad. I forgot Manny got kicked upstairs to be UWF president. (It's just that Manny has been the chief enabler for private, for-profit schools.) And, you say Kamoutsas is worse? Ay, yi, yi!

Stasi: Fits especially since the DOE is monitoring the internet for politically savvy leftists.

Historically, after the Wall came down and their records liberated, a majority of East Germans had collaborated with the Stasi. Florida already showing plenty of MAGA collaborators and snitches.

what can we do or have we completely lost control over the dignity of our state? I hate to say it but - 2 things - are they going to force compulsory church attendance for Florida citizens - and in 2008 - we were wondering what signs did the the Jews who left Germany saw that told them to get out while they still can...

Unfortunatey most couldn't get out, though they tried, my family included. And remember our lovely state of Florida turned back a ship off our coast because people didn't have visas and those Jews were sent back to Europe. Many perished.
