Love your screen name. It seems fitting since the alternative to research is ill informed opinion. Bullseye! You see, I am a lifelong Republican.

This is legal extortion. It should not be legal.

It’s not extortion. You should look up words before just alleging crimes

It’s certainly unethical, at the very least. But that’s a hiring requirement for MAGAts

Since all of the Republicans are in on the grift, it blows me away that the Florida voter is not the least bit concerned that their tax money is being spent on currying the favor of the "elite" millionaires and billionaires. The hypocrisy of Ron runs thick like molasses. No ethics in tallahassee, which is the result of one party rule for 25 years. When you bloviate about "Drag Shows" over there you can pick the pockets of the clueless "Villager" over here...

That's exactly why there was a "resign-to-run" law, that stated that you could not be governor and a presidential candidate, at the same time. And just another reason we chose to leave Florida.

Sally, when did you leave? I have only been here for 5 years and it's time to go. With DeSatan coming back from a losing bid for POTUS, he will no doubt rule by scorching the earth. He'll start drinking and kicking the dogs. My guess is he will sign into law everything the Republicans give him so long as you're not Randy Fine. Look out all Floridians. If you think you have no rights now, watch what he does in the next session.

They will certainly pass law eliminating the rights of Floridians and making life harder for everyone, except the very rich and themselves. Fortunately, as they have done in numeral times in the past 5 years, the Federal Courts will step in to block much of their nonsense Confederate States of America cosplay. Basically, the Governor and Legislature are just pissing away the states tax revenue and enriching Federalist Society Cult attorneys.

Thank goodness municipal power company JEA wasn’t allowed to be grifted to FPL !! They’d be wasting taxpayer’s money, too!

Jason, another great eye opening story from behind the scenes. Are these numbers acquired through a "FOIL"? I'm surprised that Florida didn't stall on releasing the records. If it were up to Republicans, all financial disclosure records would be hidden, forever.

I know a company in another state that gives $1,000 bonuses to executives with the clear expectation they make donations to campaigns of candidates picked by the company. This is a clear work around the intent of the law. I think an investigation of FPL would find this is happening and if the link is made between bonuses and written or unwritten guidance by management, it should be prosecuted.

I am amazed at the level of arrogance displayed by current Republicans in Tallahassee. When the news seeks comment on some issue, most if not all have "no comment, can't be reached, don't respond to emails, texts or calls". If they are that passionate about issues, why "no comment"? Cowards!!!

And don't even start with the "Sunshine Laws"! Republicans have trashed those repeatedly.

Wait until you learn this happens on both sides. It’s called playing both sides to extract maximum advantageous value. I know, you’re broken to learn that there are special interests on both sides.

Absolutely, there is corruption on both sides. For example in the 116th and 117th Congresses three Democratic congressmen were arrested, indicted or resigned to avoid indictment, as were 28 Republican congressmen. There is corruption on both sides, but they are far from equal. Another example, former US Presidents have been charged with a total of 91 felonies. All of those former US Presidents were Republicans.

I appreciate you keeping and sharing the information you have on congress people and presidents. You shared some above about who takes corporate money. Is there a website or document that has also collected this information? I sometimes am talking to someone and would like to share this type of information and don’t know where to find it. I still have a few friends/family who live in Florida that I am trying to educate and your data would be useful to pass on. And of course, I pass on Jason’s work, like this piece. I’m working on my niece to get her eyes open.

The numbers of congressmen arrested, indicted or resigned I have collected myself. Of course, all 91 felony indictments against former Presidents are all against Donald Trump.

Yes, thanks to inept John Roberts and the Republicans who vomited up “Citizens United” and saddled the rest of us with their readily apparent criminality.

Don't almost all campaigns do this type of thing? Otherwise, where would their money come from? I could be wrong, but I would think that the billions of dollars we the people are uncovering about our current administration could be signs of this as well, no? Unless one is independently weathy (and then how did they become so weathy?) big donors make up a large part of one's warchest. I could be wrong, however.

Yes, it happens on both sides with much thanks to SCOTUS and Citizens United. Dem Senator Menendez is an example although at least a good number of Democrats are calling for him to step down. In any event, it all should be exposed. Thanks to Jason for doing the thorough investigative work that keeps Fl voters informed as we are continually shaded from our Fl “sunshine”.

Many politicians do similar fundraising. Few are as blatant as the DiSaster Administration has been in tying donations to any chance of future good will. Also, some politicians do refuse to accept any corporate or corporate PAC donations at all. In the current Congress, 73 members refused to accept any corporate money. They are all Democrats and include; Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Katie Porter, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Sen John Fetterman, Sen. Peter Welch, Rep Ro Khanna, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep Pramila Jayapal, and Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Oh really?? What “billions of dollars” are those? The $2,000,000,000 that Jared Kushner was gifted to manage-even though he has no money management experience? A crook, like his father, who tRump pardoned?
