Between the abortion issues, unemployment compensation, LGBTQ+ laws, book banning, cronyism, Christian Nationalist education parameters, migrants treated as outcasts, property insurance problems, and all the other goings-on in Florida now, why would anyone in their right mind choose to continue living there?

Disney may have to move its theme parks before this is over.

It’s not easy to pick up and move…people need to stay and fight. Besides, nowhere is safe, even “blue” states could be affected by what ends up happening here depending on how court cases are decided and at what level.

I'd rather be in a Blue state than the mess I am in at the moment. Florida is dragging women back 70 years. Seems they are only in the game for the Uber wealthy, the rest of the Floridan's can eat crow. I can't for the life of me figure out why voters are still voting Republican amongst this insanity?

You and me both, PJ.

I’m with you on the issues of moving, especially if it’s a great distance. And you’re right, Kate, that blue states could be next. However, I believe peace of mind and stability make that move worth it. Florida’s trajectory looks extremely negative for its citizens.

It’s absolutely awful, but change is possible—Obama won the state twice! Just need GOTV efforts and to really wake people up to the awfulness.

OMG, ugh, this is so horrible. I knew it was in that general area.

I don't Florida - what are we going to do? It costs at least 15K to move and you have to have a job first to get a lease.

Do we stay and fight? We fought with each other during the BP oil spill so disappointing.

Residents of Florida, think about Publix the next time you shop there. That the very people they employ would be shit out of luck if they were laid off and had to go through the process. The conditions in which they make you jump through hoops just to get a weekly stipend (30% of your salary) is onerous. It's sickening that Republicans are actively screwing the Florida resident. Please, if you have a functioning brain, Vote Blue at every chance. Democrats at least help the common citizen.

Everybody I know is leaving Florida for more sane states. There won't be any workers left for them to abuse. Corporates and the GOP will have to get off their lazy bums and clean their own toilets for a change.

They are starting with 16 and 17 yr old's working a full 40hrs a week even when SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. Next year and years after (unless Democrats get in and roll things back) Republicans' will try to work that age down to 12 and 13 yr old working while school is in session. WATCH!!

In time children will only have to have basic reading skills. Two or three years learning to read and write, and then they’ll go to work. Once the Department of Education has been destroyed, feudalistic employment of entire families will begin.

About 1/4 of Americans have only basic reading skills now! They can't even find most places on a map. It totally is NeoFeudalism. There's a good book on it at the downtown Orlando Public Library called NeoFeudalism: A Warning to the Global Middle Class by Joel Kotkin.

Their Project 25 agenda is based on a feudalistic future for America. Something akin to the 19th century. Thanks for the book info, Sydney!

Mitt Romney not long ago was telling his pals to buy farmland, saying "People are going to need jobs." I'm not kidding. People don't remember, or only the New Yorker had reported on the fact that his ancestral family had LOTS of slave plantations on St. Kitts-Nevis in the Caribbean. Strangely, The Washington Post had run a long article about members of Congress who owned slaves, and their current members by ancestral connections, but OMITTED Mitt for some reason....Jeff Bezos, owner of the Washington Post, maybe he had something to do with it.

It's criminal. The GOP is intentionally regressing and creating an impoverished, illiterate proletariat. That's the goal. Think the Hunger Games with all those "districts" supporting the conspicuous waste of the 1%. And they are criminalizing homelessness. Florida will be like the British and Irish workhouses of the 19th century. Homelessness was a crime back then. You HAD to work to get housing.

Keep people from their history because they are unable to read and they are easy to control!

It's all cool until the people who are "anti-handout" actually need that hand to help them.

The GOP cares only about themselves and their pockets not the people. Selfish individuals!
