Records show Florida's governor drafted plans to strip autonomy from individual universities and colleges, centralize power in Tallahassee, and impose more restrictions on what students are taught.
It's typical of people who have never taught at a university or finished the long slog for a PhD to feel as if they know exactly how to "fix" a state's higher education system.
After wasting 15 years of hoping to "live the dream"full-time in in FL, I returned home to Massachusetts last September and removed a huge weight off my shoulders. (Yes, I know DeSantis has degrees from Yale & Harvard.) Once in a blue moon, I force myself to dip my toe into the Florida news cycle, as a politics junkie, and remain aghast. FL is very likely lost for the indefinite future and I can only hope that national media will be relentless in exposing this sad excuse for a human being in the '24 election cycle. I feel so sad for his children.
This is fascism 101…..what is wrong with voters in Florida? Dare I hope that Crist will use this in his campaign(along with many other things) or is that a lost cause?

This is all straight out of the authoritarian’s playbook. Idk if they’re directly following the example of Orban’s Hungary, but it seems like there’s some evidence of that. Fun stuff…

Sounds like DeSantis is awesome. Public unis *are* socialist indoctrination factories and the state should try to reign them in.
