Hello Jason! I have been reading you on Seeking Rents for a while now. Just saw you on More Perfect Union re: Florida homeowners' insurance crisis and was able to put a "face" to the "name." Please keep up the good work. As an owner-builder (without a mortgage) not on the coast or in a flooding area we've never had insurance or the attendant problems. Had to re-roof our 45yr. old "shingle" roof after H. Michael but the cost was minimal compared to the cumulative cost of insurance for all those years (and no hassles with insurance companies!) so this strategy has worked out well for us. My theory is why should I join an insurance pool with those who have (unwisely) chosen to "build their houses upon the sand" so to speak, or next to salt water? But we appreciate that some must carry mortgages and/or are unable to build for themselves (and/or just don't realize that you can't drink salt water....) so our situation may be unusual. Know that we appreciate the good work you're doing in this area and hope you continue. In the meantime, we'll continue to read you on your Substack! Thanks again!

exactly - and why shouldn't we be able to write off our insurance payments? We can right off our mortgage interest, right?

They tell people - don't walk on sand dunes yet let developers shred them at the first opportunity to build xyz - then we have to subsidize the insurance.

thank you for this and yet these people who divert us with so called "election fraud" and the same people who committed (and still do)appraisal fraud, liar's loans, and tell us it's the "little people's fault" for 2008. Baloney.

Since the Moms for Liberty group and Desantis have bulldozed the education system by over exaggerating books that they fell are bad… Rosa Parks!?!? And telling false information about what Florida teachers are teaching our good teachers have resigned because of the unnecessary stress and our Professors have left the State..

Add the true insurance crisis and our State is a mess. Now with some reporting like yours Atleast we can fight against this nonsense!!

Yes, and arresting homeless people - no tourists go without a house rental.

I think we are going to have to organize a Citizen PAC and a Tallahassee Day - if we have another election. Trump keeps threatening our right to vote. I never thought I our country would come to this.

The article about Polk County almost brought me to tears. Remembering what good government Florida had back with Askew, Graham, and Chiles compared with Bush, Scott, and DeSantis makes me so sad for what we’ve lost (or thrown away).
